A great quantity of waste materials can be generated during the operation of a farm, materials which have been difficult or costly to dispose of in the past. There are now alternatives to dumping or burning plastic farm waste, by recycling them through accredited voluntary product stewardship schemes. Plasback and Agrecovery both run recycling schemes for a number of different types of farm plastics, and Agrecovery also runs an agrichemical take-back scheme for unwanted or expired farm chemicals.

Agrecovery

Agrecovery is New Zealand's solution for the safe disposal of unwanted agrichemicals, and the recycling of empty containers, drums and IBCs

• Chemicals
  Free or subsidised disposal for unwanted chemicals. Keeping old or unwanted agrichemicals stored on your property presents an unnecessary risk to staff and family, livestock, pets and the environment. Don't leave them lingering for the next generation to deal with - book them for collection!
• Containers 0L - 60L
  Don't burn or dump, it's free to recycle! Agrecovery provides free recycling for plastic containers from over 3000 of the most common ag-chem, animal health and dairy hygiene products sold into the New Zealand market. So let's make burning and dumping a thing of the past!
• Drums 61L - 1000L
  Free on-property collection. Don't leave large drums and IBCs sitting empty on your property. Agrecovery can collect them to re-use or recycle and it won't cost you a thing.
