Since 2016
the Clutha District Council has been working on developing community plans for
the Clutha District. This “Our Place” body of work starts with the initial development
of concepts and options which relate to a particular community. These are laid out
in a discussion document which is sent to all properties in the area. A series
of public consultation events are then arranged, with opportunities for the
community to give us their feedback. Once this process has been completed, a
final community plan is produced, which describes the specific projects to be
undertaken.
It is one
of the ways we ask you what you want for your locality, what projects you want
us to prioritise, and how you want us to support the community with your own
projects.
We
have developed plans for Balclutha, Waihola, Milton, Taieri Mouth, The Catlins,
Lawrence-Tuapeka, Kaitangata, and West Otago, Clutha Valley and Clinton.
Once a
Community Plan is approved by Council the real work begins and it is not always
smooth sailing. Bringing the aspirations of these Community Plans to fruition
takes work, and also time. Some of our aspirations detailed in these plans are
not quick fixes.
