Digital Property Files
Our property files have now been digitised and we can supply digital files on request.
Depending on the property, you could expect some of the following:
- Building consent documents e.g. plans and specifications, site and drainage plans
- historic building permits
- resource consent documents e.g. decision letters or scheme plans
Vacant land may not have any building work, resource consents or any other work performed by the Council so nothing would be available to view.
A large commercial operation, on the other hand, may have historic building permits, multiple building consents, a Building Warrant of Fitness and resource consents.
A property file does not replace a LIM report and often customers get a property file in addition to a LIM report. We deliver our property files electronically via a file sharing site (currently a One Drive link).
Property file requests are generally responded to within 3 working days, however council has 5 working days to complete your request.
The cost of a property file is $25 per file, and this is paid at the time of applying for the property file. Council will inform you of any additional costs that may be charged if your request is complex or extensive before sending the file (generally this does not apply to residential properties).
Complete our online form and we'll arrange for you to access the file via OneDrive, or you can complete a form in person at our Rosebank Terrace office or at our community libraries in Milton, Tapanui or Lawrence.
