If you're a contractor or water tanker operator, you can apply to use our filling station in Balclutha for bulk water supply.
Once your application is approved, you can access the smart hydrant outside the Balclutha Water Treatment Plant at 28 Crown Street.
Permit holders will be issued a smart card which is used for access and to pay for water.
We no longer allow tankers to fill from hydrants anywhere in the Clutha District.
Contractors with prior permission to take water from a council hydrant will need to apply for approval to take water from the new filling point. Unless carrying out authorised works on Council water supplies, you cannot at any time or for any reason, take water from a Council fire hydrant.
