April updates from the Building Control team
Here are two updates from the Building Control team regarding building consent work and processes:
1. Building consent work outsourced
Council’s Building Consent Authority (BCA) has recently engaged an external contractor, Solutions Team (based in Christchurch), to process building consent applications.
If you have lodged a building consent, you may receive communications from Objective Build requesting further information. The Objective Build system offers direct communication from Solutions Team to customers and vice versa.
Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact the Team Leader, Building Control.
2. Changes to building consent inspections
Council’s Building Control department is reviewing strategies for managing building inspections within our district. This may include desktop assessments, remote inspections, including real-time remote inspections, evidence-based remote inspections, and third-party inspections.
A trial phase will be initiated before a final decision can be made. There will be a subsequent communication regarding this approach.
Should you have any suggestions, or wish to participate in the trial process, please contact the Team Leader, Building Control.
If you would like more information about either of these updates, or to discuss further, please phone Council on 0800 801 350.
