Update #3 – 5.15PM
Our contractors have been out accessing the roads throughout the Clutha District today.
Rongahere Road has been reopened, with small areas of debris at Beaumont end.
Tuapeka West Road has been cleared of debris, but caution advised in the four mile creek rd area.
The team is working on clearing the slip at Chinaman Flat Road.
Athenaeum Road is in the process of being fixed by the grader before the digger gets to the worst areas. There is scouring at the bridge. Caution is advised for the whole road.
Cockleshell Rd has some scouring that will be attended to tomorrow.
Reserve Rd Tuapeaka is closed due to scouring at the bridge.
Contractors will be back out tomorrow.

Update #2 – 10am
Our contractors have been out accessing the roads throughout the Clutha District this morning.
Rongahere Road has been reopened this morning, with caution needed between Beaumont and John O'Groats Road.
Tuapeka West Road has debris on the road, motorists should exercise caution when travelling.
Reserve Road has scouring at the bridge.
There is a large slip at far end of Chinaman Flat Road.
Athenaeum Road has tree debris across the road at the bridge, this is passable but not suitable for cars.
Contractors will be out clearing debris and assessing further areas this morning.

Update #1 – 7:15am
The forecasted heavy rain and thunder event overnight has affected areas throughout the Clutha District.
Rongahere Rd has been reopened this morning with caution needed between Beaumont and John O'Groats Rd.
Tuapeka West Road - debris on road - caution required
Reserve Road - scouring at the bridge
Chinaman Flat Road - large slip at far end
Athenaeum Road - tree debris across road at the bridge - passable but not suitable for cars.
NZTA has advised that State Highway 8 between Millers Flat and Lawrence is now open under a 30km/h temporary speed restriction. Motorists are urged to take extra care.
Our contractors are currently out assessing roads throughout the district this morning, including in West Otago, Waipori and the Lawrence areas.
Surface flooding may be present on roads this morning. Motorists are urged drive to the conditions and take care in any areas where there is surface flooding.
Further updates will be provided later this morning once we have accessed the road conditions.
