URGENT Temporary Bridge Closure

Effective immediately Ashton Road, Waitahuna is closed to through traffic.

Unfortunately, we have to close the Ashton Road bridge to all traffic as a matter of urgency. The four hard wood columns that support the bridge (the only suspension bridge in the Clutha District) have deteriorated below ground level.

Once our Consulting Engineer has assessed the condition of the columns, we will be able to consider the options available to provide a suitable safe solution.

We have been in contact with local residents and apologise for any inconvenience caused to the wider community.
