Milton Main Street update: 10 October – 16 October 2024
The under grounding of Milton’s main street overhead lines will have minor impacts for traffic between 10 October – 16 October 2024.
Council’s contractor will be laying water pipes in Ajax St from Gray to Edward St this week.
A second crew from Andrew Haulage will be working with PowerNet on the west side of Union Street laying underground power cables and water pipes to the end of this week and then they move to the East side of Union St and start construction on a new stormwater main from Jura St intersection back towards Abercrombie St. This new stormwater work should take about two weeks
Abercrombie Street will be closed for access for short periods on Thursday and Friday while repairs on a historic stone culvert are completed.
Traffic will be able to travel in both directions along Union Street but there will be safety measures and a 30km speed restriction in place.
There is a possibility of uncovering pre 1900 infrastructure items that are subject to archaeological discovery protocols. In these instances, it will delay the construction progress.
