Lawrence - Boil Water Reminder
Council reminds residents in the Lawrence township that a boil water notice is in place.
About the boil water notice
A boil water notice is in place due to problems with water treatment at the plant regarding chlorine levels.
Since putting the boil notice in place we have investigated options to achieve consistent compliance and a new UV reactor, which will treat water to a higher level, will be required. Commissioning of the new equipment is underway and expected to be completed by the end of July 2024.
We will advise when the notice is lifted.
A green tank for drinking water can be found at Tuapeka Transport in Irvine Street. In addition, a small water trailer loaned to us by Gore District Council is located outside Lawrence Area School on Harrington Street. Please bring along your own clean containers to fill with drinking water.
Anyone using water from their tap for consumption (including teeth cleaning and washing fruit and vegetables) should boil it for 1 minute before it is used.
