If customers notice low flow into their tanks, here is a
step-by-step cleaning guide that you can try before contacting Council.
Step 1: Turn off the water supply to your tank
Step 2: Remove the cap: Use an adjustable wrench to loosen and remove the cap on the front of the Y-strainer.
Step 3: Remove the screen: Take out the screen or filter from the Y-strainer.
Step 4: Clean the screen: Use a soft rag or an old toothbrush dampened with water or cleaning fluid to clean the screen. You can also use compressed air or a wire brush.
Step 5: 5. Inspect the screen: Check the screen for damage or wear and replace it if necessary.
Step 6: Reassemble: Reassemble the Y-strainer and tighten the cap. Slowly turn the water back on.
