Pest control operations are underway around Lawrence, as our local contractors begin installing wasp control stations within Council-owned spaces.
You may start to notice yellow bait stations appearing on reserve trees in the Lawrence township. Our pest control contractors are applying Vespex® wasp bait to help control wasp numbers within the town, as well as directly treating nests in public land as required.
Trial stations are being applied at the beginning of March to see if the wasps are going to take the bait, and a larger application will be applied once frequent feeding is observed.
Vespex® is not attractive to bees, and is of very low risk to birds, pets, and people. Although the bait contains an eco-toxin, there are strict controls in place to ensure that the bait is used in a way that does not present a threat to the environment.
Keep an eye out for signage which will indicate whether a bait station is close by. For the safety of yourself and others, please do not touch the yellow bait stations.
If you come across a damaged bait station you can report it to Council in the Antenno app.
If you have any concerns please get in touch by phoning Council on 0800 801 350.
