Council recognises the importance of the remembrance of important events in our history, and the sacrifices made by families and communities in the Clutha District.
Council provides representation and lays a wreath at as many ANZAC Day services as practicable, with an expectation that a representative be in attendance at a service in each of the eight Clutha wards.
Council will reimburse Returned Services branches for the cost of a wreath, printing of programmes, and hall hire for Anzac Day services within the District.
In some townships, service clubs organise Anzac Day services where there is no RSA branch and the reimbursement is also available to them. The reimbursement to the RSA or service organiser would be over and above the wreaths that Council lays at services on its own account.
Council will also pay for a coordinated newspaper advertisement for Anzac Day services.
